NCHC championship: Potential for fireworks between Western Michigan and Denver

As much as the ECAC championship game tonight is expected to be a low-scoring, low-event affair, you can perhaps expect the exact opposite in the NCHC title game.

This clash between Western Michigan and Denver features the two top offenses in the country… and both have top-10 defenses as well.

Statistically, there's shockingly little separating the two teams. Western scores 4.05 goals per game on 35.3 shots, while Denver scores 4.03 on 33.5. Western allows 2.08 goals on 25.9 shots against, and Denver allows 2.13 on 25.9. So, just on the margins — and by virtue of their higher position in both the national rankings and the NCHC standings — perhaps you'd say the Broncos are favored.
